Can't stop talking about our Helical Beanie pattern!

Can't stop talking about our Helical Beanie pattern!

The latest Striped Helical Beanie Hat that I knit uses colors that go with a silver gray down puffy jacket that I wear on colder days. I chose a medium soft toned gray and paired it with a dusty pink.

There was a problem. The pink yarn is DK weight and the pattern is written for worsted weight. Technically, the gauge should be wonky.

I didn't let that phase me. I wanted that color combination.

Here's the result -- a really close to the head beanie that has already been through the wash. It's soft and tight fitting -- perfect for long walks in cold temperatures.

Both of these yarns are discontinued, but in the photo you can see a ball of Edition 3, a DK weight yarn that would be perfect with the soft gray. The color shown is Color 2399 Rosetta and it would look great against navy blue, too.

So, dear knitters, after you get the hang of helical knitting, be adventuresome with your color and weight. The DK weight works well as the secondary yarn in this pattern.

Don't be afraid to experiment. After all, it's just a hat and only a little more knitting that a really big swatch!

Happy knitting!

Wanda
